Yeah you’re in. You’re also relevant in football & soccer!

They have arrived and unless they have some mysterious drop off in talent, a new coach that doesn’t like them or some other bizarre reason outside of injury they should be starting for the USMNT. They are the class of our team and competing at the top levels of Football/Soccer in the world. It’s a short list and one that needs to grow and get support soon to compete.

You’re playing well & likely the best we got

This group of players are knocking on the door of locking themselves into a starting spot either because of their talent or recent play. They are not so dominant at their role that someone couldn’t pluck it from them if pressed, they have a tough competition at their position for us or they are otherwise just a slight step down from the group above.

Zack Steffen | GK
Fortuna, Bundesliga
Jozy Altidore | F
Toronto, MLS
Matt Miazga | D
Reading, English Championship
Josh Sargent | F
Werder, Bundesliga
Jordan Morris | F
Seattle, MLS

Please Please Please be good!

This is a group that could easily join or surpass the contenders above if they can break in and get regular time with their current team or get moved to another place that will give them the opportunity or system that suits them.

You’re in, buuuut we’re shopping

This group is the best we’ve got, they are serviceable players that will likely start or be close to starting, but don’t bring anything that couldn’t easily be upended with some of the youth above.

Paul Arriola

Tim Ream

Michael Bradley

Sebastian Lleget

Nick Lima

What could have been and might still if you push the door open
These guys were great, could have been great or otherwise had us excited and just never turned the corner either with their play or winning over Berhalter for some reason. Some like Holmes really should be in the line up and Miles Robinson is likely to get more time. Time is not out on others yet either, Horvath was a Champions League GK until getting replaced. Plenty of opportunity for this group to return to the above groups.

Duane Holmes

Alfredo Morales

Miles Robinson

Tyler Boyd

Erik Palmer-Brown

Julian Green

Ethan Horvath

Walker Zimmerman

Go home please, just go home

We know what we have in these guys and they just should not being called up any more. They do enough to be in the conversation though and continue to get called up or considered. They may even be the best player in the depth chart and deserve the call up, but they just bring nothing to the table. This ship has sailed and it’s time to test some other names in these spots.
