Chris Richards Bayern Munich Journey
Chris Richards is one of many young talented players arriving at various European clubs from the top ranked FC Dallas academy. He grew up in Alabama and played successfully there at the youth levels until moving to Dallas.
His first trip being unsuccessful to grab FC Dallas’ attention, Chris joined a team that would be playing against FC Dallas and caught the attention of coach Eric Quill.
“Right off the bat I could tell this kid’s got something really, really good,” Quill told Goal . “But he hadn’t grown into his body much. He was sort of gangly. The body type that I could see some people not thinking he could play.”

“His ability to see the field and break lines with his passing – he’s a high-level passer from the back – and he’s just an athletic freak,” Quill said. “He can jump through the roof. He’s just a kid you could see a real high ceiling with.”
Richards was brought in to FC Dallas where he joined Christian Cappis before moving on loan to Germany. He earned his spot on the Bayern Munich youth team where he’s performed well including scoring a pair of goals.
Chris Richards, Bayern Munich, Highlights:One of the most valuable things Richards possess is his versatility at a young age. In his 22 appearances for Bayern II he has played both CB and RB. There’s not a ton of experienced CBS out there that can double as a fullback. He has the strength and IQ to play center defense with the athleticism to play on the outside. Although the USMNT seems fruitful at RB for the time being it doesn’t hurt to have it in the arsenal.
Chris, CB Bayern Munich, had been on the cusp of earning first team minutes and was drawing interest from other European giants rumored to be Chelsea and Arsenal.
